Ideas For Eating More Fruits and Vegetables

 Here are some ideas from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to enjoy more fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. 

  1. Use vegetables as pizza toppings. Consider broccoli, spinach, green peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and zucchini.
  2. Start your day with a breakfast smoothie made with low-fat milk, frozen strawberries & a banana.
  3. For lunch try a veggie wrap with roasted vegetables & low-fat cheese rolled in a whole-wheat tortilla.
  4. Spruce up your salad by adding baby carrots, grape tomatoes, spinach leaves and/or mandarin oranges.
  5. Add beans and salsa or broccoli and low-fat cheese to a baked potato.
  6. Looking for mid-afternoon snack?  Keep cut vegetables such as peppers 9red, green, or yellow), broccoli or cauliflower florets, carrots, celery sticks, snap peas or whole radishes handy
  7. For a satisfying dessert slice a banana lengthwise and top with a scoop of low-fat frozen yogurt.  Sprinkle with a tablespoon of chopped nuts.
